Both sides will be desperate to qualify for the group stage with a minimum of $17 Million on the line should they do so.

Young Boys, who have an average squad age of 25.4 - older than Gladbach's 24.7, qualified for the Champions League after coming in second in the Swiss Super League last season.

Their main men are French striker Guillaume Hoarau, who scored 18 goals and produced nine assists in 25 matches last season, and French midfielder Yoric Ravet who scored five and created another 10 goals in 18 matches.
The real question of course is why BSC Young Boys are named as they are.

In 1897 Max and Oscar Schwab, Hermann Bauer, and Franz Kehrli were studying at the University of Bern and organised a match against FC Bern with the Basel Old Boys Association (made up of former students from the university).

The four current students decided to create their own team called Young Boys that involved only current students and then formed a partnership with FC Bern.

Today, Young Boys plays in the Champions League while Old Boys is in the third division.

Mönchengladbach last year had a disastrous start to their 2015-2016 season, their coach Lucien Favre was sacked and replaced with Andre Schubert as interim coach.

Their fortunes immediately changed winning six league games in a row and eventually finishing the season in fourth place, gaining qualification to the Champions League for a second successive season.

Monchengladbach's star players include Raffael, who scored 15 goals and produced 13 assists in 39 games last season, Lars Stindl - 14 goals, 15 assists in 39 matches - and Eden Hazard's brother Thorgan Hazard, who scored six and set up another six in 36 matches last season.
A big blow to the German side is the loss of Granit Xhaka who left for Arsenal. In comes Christoph Kramer from Bayer Leverkusen for $22 Million.
