Jamieson agrees to go wandering in Gothenburg

Swedish giants IFK Gothenburg have won the battle to prise Scott Jamieson away from Western Sydney Wanderers – just over three weeks after having an approach for the fullback firmly rejected.

It's believed that Wanderers coach Tony Popovic is far from pleased to be losing a key member of his first team so close to the start of the new A-League season.

Jamieson, 27, attracted the interest of the 18-time champions after putting together a campaign of high intensity and consistency as Wanderers stormed into last season's grand final – playing all but four minutes of the entire campaign.

It has long been his desire to return to Europe after a two-year spell earlier in his career at Bolton Wanderers, where the ex-Adelaide United, Sydney FC and Perth Glory defender was unable to crack the first team.

It's understood that Jamieson, who had a year to run on his Wanderers contract, has agreed to a one-year deal with an option for a second.

Gothenburg currently sit fourth on the Allsvenskan ladder 17 games into the season and are also chasing a place in the main draw of the UEFA Europa League.
