Henrique keen on Roar return seven weeks after leaving

The “Slippery Fish” wants to wriggle back onto the Brisbane Roar hook with Brazilian striker Henrique eyeing a shock return just seven weeks after leaving the troubled A-League club for Malaysian side Negeri Sembilan.

It’s understood that the 31 year-old former Roar super sub – second on the club's all-time leading scoring charts with 39 goals – has been unable to settle in Malaysia, despite his new club being coached by Aussie expat Gary Phillips, and home to fellow A-League exports Taylor Regan, Alex Smith and Joel Chianese.

Henrique, who has yet to make his debut for his new club, has made contact with Roar coach John Aloisi and football operations chief Craig Moore over his desire to return to Australia – where he is now a naturalised citizen.
However, it's unclear whether Aloisi – who has his own issues to contend with in a fractious relationship with new managing director Daniel Cobb - will be tempted to welcome back the player who rejected a new deal from Brisbane for the greater financial rewards on offer in Malaysia.

Henrique was part of three championship-winning sides with the Roar and played 136 games for the club.

He scored the winning goal against the Western Sydney Wanderers in the 2014 A-League grand final, a goal in extra-time in the 2011 grand final win over Central Coast Mariners and the winning penalty.
