Tiny Norwegian club rejects Real Madrid in favour of kids clinic

Real Madrid's request to use the training ground of Malvik IL, a club in Norway's fifth-tier, ahead of the UEFA Super Cup Final has been rejected as the club did not want "to send home 270 kids".

Madrid will play against Sevilla in the Super Cup Final on 10 August (AEST) in Trondheim, Norway.

Malvik IL, whose training facilities are close to the Lerkendal Stadion and known for their high quality turf, were asked by the Spanish giants if they could use their ground in preparation for the match.

However the Norwegian club denied the request, opting instead to host an already scheduled clinic for children.

“Let’s hope [the kids] learn something at the soccer camp, so we get some players on Real Madrid,” Malvik club Deputy Chairman Frode Forbord said to Norway’s NRK.

“It’s not particularly fun to send home 270 kids,” Forbord said.
