Oliver, formerly of The Daily Show, is a huge Liverpool fan, and as part of the team's pre-season tour in the United States he filmed a video putting forth and aggressive and hilarious argument why Americans should go watch the Reds.
“Historically, Liverpool is one of the most successful teams in the history of sport. That’s not necessarily backed up with recent results – but, f**k you! They’re coming back," Oliver said.
“If you want to go see a manager absolutely lose his sh*t, even in pre-season. Pre-season, they’re often boring games, that’s not going to be the case under Klopp – because he’s not having it!
“If you want to go see a German shout at grown men, to run in a game which is objectively meaningless, you are going to get that.”
Oliver is a Liverpool tragic, carrying around an Ian Rush autograph in his wallet that he received when he was 12.
"I support (Liverpool) with a passion that I’m not even comfortable explaining to you.”
The comedian's love for the Reds is almost matched by his evident hate for Manchester United.
“You see a lot of Man United shirts (when) walking around (New York). I’ve, more than once, got into slightly tense conversations saying; “Do you know what you’re wearing? Do you have any idea?
“They reply, ‘I just like United’. You don’t know what you like! You don’t know how offensive it is to look at that.”
It's not the first time that Oliver has discussed his passion for Football and Liverpool.
