The football off-season can be a tough time for fans.
Without games, fans rely on the excitement of events such as the annual unveiling of new playing kits to feed their hunger for all things football.
However, excitement can quickly turn to horror - as was the case with the following nominations for worst jersey of the 2016-2017 season.
The World Game has scoured the globe to find some of the ugliest playing kits for the upcoming season.
Tottenham Hotspur (third kit)
Tottenham Hotspur pushed Leicester City all the way during the 2015-2016 Premier League season to secure a Champions League berth for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. While there are plenty of things the North London club is doing right, their new gold third kit is not one of them.
Closer to baby poo brown than the sparkle of gold, Tottenham fans will be hoping their side keeps this jersey in the kit bag and not on the playing field.
Southampton (home)
Southampton goes in to the upcoming season with a new coach, new players and a new kit supplier. While manager Cluede Puel and his squad still have a few weeks to prove themselves, the debut effort from Under Armour is less than impressive.
Gone are Southampton’s traditional thick vertical stripes, instead replaced by a mish-mash of thin and thick stripes as well as a white chest section which looks like the players are wearing a bra on the outside of their shirt.
Heart of Midlothian (away)
Put simply, pink and yellow stripes should never come together on a football kit. Designed to commemorate the fifth Earl of Roseberry who was President of the Scottish Football Association, Hearts' new away kit was trashed by fans the moment the club released the first pictures of it on Twitter. Hopefully Hearts’ performances on the pitch look better than their jerseys.
Millwall (away)
Yellow in football can be done very well, as proven by Juventus’ away strip in 2014. On the other hand, this season's Millwall away kit shows us what a poor yellow kit looks like.
Thick stripes of contrasting yellow shades isn’t what first comes to mind when you think of the Lions' tough reputation. Incredibly the jersey was designed and selected by the club's fans so each to their own as they say.
Purple Jerseys
Seemingly taking inspiration from Perth Glory and Fiorentina - Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sunderland have all opted to go purple this season with their away strips. While the Viola's jerseys are an example of how purple is done right, Real Madrid’s lavender effort and Barcelona’s electric purple are definitely not.\
The less said about Sunderland’s purple and pink shirts the better. Maybe they should leave the purple to Fiorentina and the Glory.
Bordeaux (third strip)
What do you get when you combine Sydney's Vivid festival and a football kit? Bordeaux's 2016-2017 third strip. Allegedly the shirt was designed to celebrate the city of Bordeaux, however it it better described as an abomination of purple, navy and pink. Clearly France's reputation for high fashion doesn't extend to the football field.
Club Deportivo Palencia
A top candidate for the weirdest football kit of all time, Club Deportivo Palencia’s flesh themed kit is a sight to behold. A one-off kit used during the Spanish fourth tier side’s playoff matches earlier this year, the jersey took on club slogan “we give our skin” a little too literally.
Finally, while not released this season, it couldn't be a proper list of terrible kits without mention of this absolute shocker. One of the most memorable bad jerseys of all time; the Socceroos spew jersey from 1993. Lest we forget.
