Fresh from leading AFC Wimbledon to a League Two promotion playoff victory, the self-appointed “strongest man in football” has joined the Buckinghamshire based Wanderers on a one-year deal.
The cult star, who rose to prominence through the FIFA video game, called for managers to “hit me up on WhatsApp” when he revealed he had been released by AFC Wimbledon during a Sky Sports interview.

Akinfenwa, a journey-man who has kitted up for 13 different clubs across a professional career spanning 15 years, said in June he would consider a move to Australia, but the chance to sign for Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe was clearly too good to turn down for the striker.
“Bayo has had a phenomenal career and still has plenty to offer not just on the pitch but also in the changing room because of his character and real leadership qualities,’ Ainsworth said.
“I believe that bringing Bayo to the club shows our intent to give it a real push to go bigger and better than we achieved last season.

“He’s kept himself fit over the summer and joins the squad at a perfect time just as we’re heading to France for a pre-season training camp which will help everybody get to know each other better and enable us to put more plans in place for the year ahead.”
The Beast and Wycombe will kick-off their League Two season at Crawley Town on 6 August.
