Fifteenth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt go into their game at 16th-spotted Werder Bremen with the best chances of staying up, but Stuttgart in 17th have not given up hope of beating Wolfsburg and avoiding what would be only the second ever relegation in their history.
For that to happen, they realistically need Frankfurt to beat Bremen since a win would then lift the Swabians into the relegation play-off berth.
Should Frankfurt and Bremen draw, Stuttgart, the home of Australian goalkeeper Mitchell langerak, would need to beat the Wolves by seven goals to move out of the bottom two. A win for Bremen would mean a six-goal win over Wolfsburg would be required for Stuttgart - who have scored only six goals in their last seven games - to stay up.
"Our game in Wolfsburg is a cup final for us," Stuttgart coach Jurgen Kramny said.
"We've got to take this next chance by doing our jobs, and we're going to be ready to push ourselves to the limit."
At the other end of the table, Bayern Munich will pick up their 25th Bundesliga title following their home game against Hannover while Borussia Dortmund will finish second no matter how they fare against Cologne.
Third place belongs to Bayer Leverkusen, who will celebrate that at home to Ingolstadt, while Borussia Monchengladbach need just a point in Darmstadt to join them in the Champions League.
Behind the top four, though, there is a battle between three clubs to earn an extra holiday this summer, with the sides finishing fifth and sixth entering the Europa League in the group stage whereas sixth place would mean entry in July's third qualifying round.
As things stand, it would be Schalke reporting back to pre-season training earlier than their rivals, but a win at Hoffenheim would see them rise into the top two of a three-team tie for fifth, with goal difference separating them.
Fifth-placed Mainz host sixth-spotted Hertha Berlin with Mainz needing just a draw to extend their summer break.
Elsewhere, Augsburg meet Hamburg with both sides having secured their berths in the top flight a week ago.
