Oar is still honing his match sharpness after just two starts, and three appearances off the bench since re-joining his home-town club a month after cutting short his four-month stay at Ipswich Town.
He played 57 minutes of Friday’s come-from-behind 2-1 elimination final victory over Melbourne Victory at Suncorp stadium, and reckons Brisbane will upstage Western Sydney Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday to clinch a spot in the 1 May decider.
“Obviously, it's been a while since I was playing regularly but I am feeling better and better as I get more games and minutes under my belt," said Oar, who left the Roar to join FC Utrecht in the Netherlands in 2010.
"I have come back at a good time and I'm hopeful that in the coming weeks I can be more and more effective.
“I feel like with full pre-season under my belt for next season I will be in better position than I have been this year when I joined Ipswich quite late and was without a club for over a month after I left them.
"So physically it’s been a strange season for me. That said I still feel I can make a contribution and help us get to the grand final."
Oar is adamant that Roar have the quality and the character to down Tony Popovic’s team, who finished second behind Adelaide United and ahead of Brisbane on goal difference.
“We believe we can win the title ... the game against Victory, in coming from behind, was a great result.
“We feel we can go to Sydney and do what we have to do. This club has proven time and again in the finals that we know how to win. History suggests that we can do it again.
"We have so much depth in this team ... when you have people like Brandon Borello and Javi Hervas, who are fantastic players, and they are on the bench, it says a lot."
The left-footed Oar is unfazed at being deployed on the right by coach John Aloisi in his second coming at the club where it all began.
“It's fine with me ... it’s not my natural position but I have played there before and I can definitely grow into the role, it’s about coming inside on to my favoured foot whereas on the left it’s about getting to the touchline and delivering crosses into the box," he said.
The 24 year-old is convinced he made the right move in re-joining for Brisbane on a deal which runs until 2018 ahead of Sydney FC where more money was on the table.
“Being a Brisbane boy and a fan, plus having a good relationship with Craig Moore, I am really happy with the decision," he said.
“One thing that surprised me is how professional the set-up is. It’s similar to the national team and it mirrors that sort of strategy."
"I just had to make the correct decision for my career at this stage. A lot of national team players are being picked out of the A-League and I never saw coming back as a negative to my international prospects in any way.
"After I left Ipswich I was in contact with Ange Postecoglou and told him I was talking to Brisbane, and he said Australia was a good place to come back to.
But Oar, has not closed the door on a return to Europe, or even an Asian adventure at some stage.
“Nothing is off the agenda ... I felt that at this stage of my career it was the right move after things didn’t work out at Ipswich as I would have liked," he said.
“I came back earlier than people anticipated but that doesn’t mean I won’t go overseas again at some point.
"Coming to Brisbane is perfect. The team has a lot of ball players and very technical players and I think that suits my style.
