"It's not for me to try to tell Melbourne City what to do, but Bruno is contracted until the end of next season and I'd hope it would just be common sense he would be the player they would speak to about occupying that marquee spot," Dominguez told False 9.
"I'm sure Melbourne City would be aware that at the end of the season there will be a lot of clubs, Asian clubs in particular, who will take a lot of interest in Bruno, having seen him play in this part of the world. They have a spot available now Robbie is gone, so it seems like a natural progression."
Fornaroli is the A-League's leading scorer, with 17 goals. If City were to make him a marquee player there could possibly be the trade-off of him committing to a longer term at the club. What remains to be seen is whether the club moves on him now or waits until the end of the season.
"The marquee position automatically comes with a certain expectation financially, so it would be an automatic pay-rise for moving from within the cap to a marquee position," Dominguez said.
"It's up to Melbourne City, but I would expect they would like to have Bruno around not just for next season, but beyond that. They have been very positive about Bruno, so I would anticipate that eventually they will have talks in good faith with him with a view to extending the relationship."

It was the 19th Melbourne derby between Victory and either City or Heart. It was also the 19th nervous breakdown for FFA and A-League officials dreading the possibility of flares being ignited and other crowd issues.
OK, maybe 19 is not quite exactly the correct number, but it just happens to fit False 9's plans for this week's musical offering.
Man of the hour (and a half)
Wellington striker Blake Powell may not have been the first player to score four goals in an A-League game - Shane Smeltz, Besart Berisha, Alessandro Del Piero and Archie Thompson had all done so beforehand - but False 9 has a twist on his achievement for the statistically fascinated.
Powell, who racked up four in Phoenix's 5-2 win over Western Sydney Wanderers, is the first Australian-born player to do so.
Yes, Thompson is a former Socceroo, but he was born in New Zealand to a Papua New Guinean mother and New Zealand father.
"To be in a group of top strikers like that when it comes to scoring four goals is unbelievable," Powell said. "It blows my mind a bit."

Introducing the Sepp Blatter bandaid award
Sometimes - well, actually, quite often, in football - a player, a coach, a club or the game at large goes through a period they really wish they hadn't. Western Sydney Wanderers went through such a time last week.
First, they had to deal with the fall-out from the use of flares and detonators by fans at an away game. Then they copped a $50,000 fine and a suspended, three-point penalty from Football Federation Australia over said incident.
Finally, when Wanderers got the chance to play again and were hoping to get some joy as the competition leaders at their home ground against the ninth-placed Wellington Phoenix, they were belted 5-2.
So, to cover the sizeable wound while it heals, False 9 would like to present Wanderers with one of Sepp Blatter's massively over-sized bandaids. False 9 sincerely hopes the club won't need an even bigger one after this week's Sydney derby.
Weather fine, question not so good
Still on Wanderers and marquee striker Federico Piovaccari was sent by the club to do a promotion with some school-kids during the weather slot on Channel Seven's Sunrise program last Friday.
The video here shows Piovaccari playing a bit of one-on-30 with the kids, including one youngster who decided that clinging to the marquee striker's leg like there was no tomorrow was the answer to stopping him.
But what the video didn't show was the beginning of the segment, when the weather guy asked Piovcaccari how he was enjoying his football at Wanderers!
Piovaccari is a professional and this was just a fun segment, so he gave a positive reply in his thick Italian accent. But, obviously, False 9 doesn't have to be Sherlock Holmes to suspect he would be enjoying his football a whole lot more if he could actually get a game!

Can't wait to see what sort of game it is - surely Sydney FC won't sit as deep at home as they did on the road in the last Sydney derby, even though they won that 2-1.
Can't wait to how Western Sydney Wanderers respond to the 5-2 flogging they got at home from Wellington Phoenix on Sunday in what was the biggest upset of the season.
Can't wait to see a full house at Allianz Stadium and no-one ruining the occasion by lighting flares and/or setting off detonators.
Is that too much to ask at a time when the game could really do without the bad publicity?
