Reds fans plan historic Anfield walkout over high ticket prices

Liverpool supporter groups are urging fans to leave Anfield in the 77th minute of their match against Sunderland on Sunday morning (AEDT) to protest the club’s ticket pricing policy announced for next season.

The 77th minute is symbolic of the £77 ($156) it will cost to buy the top-priced ticket in the newly reconstructed Main Stand – up from £59 ($120).

With the increase in Premier League television revenue there was some discussions between the clubs and supporters group that ticket prices could be brought down.

Liverpool announced that some fans would see their season ticket prices frozen and in some cases decreased, however one of the most prominent Anfield attending supporter groups claimed it would mean ‘big increases for some’.
The walkout would be the first of its kind in Anfield history.
