According to Ian Roache writing for “Henan Jianye, who finished fifth in the Chinese Super League last season, want McGowan in as soon as possible so are willing to pay in order to release him from his Tannadice deal.”
McGowan is entering the last six months of his contract with Dundee United after joining in January 2015.
Should McGowan leave it would be seen as a huge blow for Dundee United, where he has played every minute of their 22 league games this season.
The 26 year-old is believed to be valued at about $800,000 (AUD), however he would be available on a free transfer should he not re-sign for United by June.
The Socceroos defender spent two seasons in the CSL with Shandong Luneng Taishan where he won the 2014 Chinese FA Cup.
Dundee United currently sits last on the Scottish Premier League table, 14 points from safety, having only won two matches.
