Angry Arnold snubs media after Sydney stalemate

Frustrated Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold refused to face the media for fear of getting fined after a 0-0 draw with Wellington Phoenix.

The Sky Blues missed a chance of taking sole leadership of the A-League after a niggly stalemate at Allianz Stadium.

Arnold was incensed with some decisions from referee Chris Beath, particularly the official's failure to award Sydney a penalty when captain Alex Brosque was challenged by Manny Muscat late in the game.

The Sydney coach has been fined on several occasions for post-match comments - the last time being last January - and he preferred not to take part in the mandatory press conference, asking his assistant Steve Corica to front the media.
"Arnie's a bit frustrated with the way things went tonight," Corica said later.

"So we thought that after he's been fined a few times I come down.

"There was a lot throughout the game that he is frustrated with.

"Maybe the excessive number of fouls given against us, maybe a couple of no-penalty decisions on Brosque and Filip Holosko.

"We are not normally a fouling team and I think we conceded 29 fouls in total but in my opinion a lot of them were not fouls and when that happens it is very difficult to get the game flowing.

"From the positive side defensively we were very good and we finished the game strongly but it did not fall our way in the final pass."

Sydney's draw means they are fourth on the table a point behind leaders Brisbane Roar, who have played a game less.
