Wanderers marquee Vidosic adamant he will improve

Dario Vidosic said he wasn't even close to where he wanted to be with his game this season, which is great news for Western Sydney Wanderers fans who witnessed his superb first half in the 1-0 win over Perth Glory on Sunday.

Vidosic, who made his first start for Wanderers after coming off the bench in each of the first three rounds, began to tire in the second half, but he already stamped his authority on the match.

The 28-year-old with 23 Socceroos appearances to his name, scored the only goal, could have easily had a double and also created opportunities for teammates as the sharpness that was lacking in his first few outings for the club began to emerge.

"At halftime, it took a little while to get the breath back and to get the feeling back. My quads were a little bit tired, so I'll do my best now to recover as quick as possible, Vidosic said.

"I've been here maybe five weeks or so now, so it's going to take some time. I need to be patient, but this game was good. To get the full 90 minutes will only help me and now it's a bit of a shorter turnaround to our next game, so I've got to make sure I recover well.

"I was a little bit fatigued after the derby last week, but luckily today I woke up on game-day feeling the best I've felt all week and once I got out there I just wanted to enjoy myself.

Vidosic said he could already feel his confidence boosted by scoring.

"It's definitely going to help a lot," he said. "There are still a few things that frustrate me a little bit with my game, but I understand when the legs get tired and the brain maybe, so it's about pushing through that and trying to play the football we know how to play.

"But the most positive thing is that defensively we've been superb the last few weeks. We've limited teams to very few chances and in the derby we were the much better team and deserved to win that night as well.

Wanderers will have their work cut out for them when they take on in-form Newcastle Jets on Saturday.

"They'll probably sit off a little bit and invite us to play and try to hit us on the counter, from what I've seen of them, so we know again we're going to have to be patient.

"We're going to have the ball a lot and it'll be up to us again to try to unlock their defence and get the result that we want."
