Trifunović arrived in Newcastle and successfully completed his medical yesterday afternoon.

He finalised his contract with Newcastle Jets Interim Chief Executive Officer David Eland.

The tall forward will train alongside his new teammates for the first time today.

Trifunović, who has joined the Jets from Serbian SuperLiga outfit FK Radnički Niš, has played in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, as well as the Far East.

Trifunović averaged roughly a goal every three games throughout the past five years of his career at his clubs, Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade (2010-2011), Uzbekistan’s FC Bunyodkor (2011-2012), China’s Lioning Whowin (2012-2013), Kazakhstan’s FC Atryau (2014-2015), and most recently in Serbia’s third largest city, Niš.

Newcastle Jets coach Scott Miller said he is pleased that Trifunović’s move to the club has now been finalised.

“We believe Miloš will prove to be a valuable addition to our squad and someone who will provide a presence for us in our attacking third,” Miller said.

“Miloš is a clinical finisher with a strong record in leagues in Europe and Asia, and will help deliver the attacking platform to support the team structure.”

“We are confident Miloš’ character and mentality will have a positive impact on the team, and are delighted that he is able to start training with the squad today.”

Speaking via an interpreter, Trifunović revealed that he had spoken with several of his compatriots already contracted to A-League clubs, including new Jets teammate Enver Alivodić, prior to committing to his move to Australia.

“I spoke with Enver Alivodić, as well as Milos Dimitijević and Milos Ninković from Sydney FC,” Trifunović said.

“They told me about the league, the players, the stadiums, everything.”

“What they told me made me look forward to coming to the A-League.”

“This is a very good challenge for me, and I am really motivated to prove myself to the Australian public.”

Trifunović added that he feels he can add depth and versatility to Miller’s squad having played not only in the central striker position in the past, but in wide areas as well.
