Juric's Roda move back on after De Silva joins on loan

The on-again off-again saga of Australia striker Tomi Juric’s proposed move to Roda FC has taken another twist, with a deal believed to be back on the table in the wake of the club's loan signing of Daniel De Silva.

Roda JC hasn't confirmed De Silva's loan from AS Roma, but Dutch football website Voetbal International is , and watched on as it beat Heracles 3-1 on the weekend, to open the new season with a win.

Sources in the Netherlands told The World Game a deal for Juric is now imminent, and that Roda JC is hoping to complete the formalities of a two-year deal in the next few days.

A deal would bring Roda JC's Australian contingent to three, after the acquisition of former Perth Glory midfielder Rostyn Griffiths last month, and De Silva on loan.
Roda JC's director of football, Wim Collard, thought the Juric deal was done at the beginning of August, but talks appeared to have fizzled out after the Juric camp failed to agree personal terms.

The trail looked to have gone cold, but Juric, who left Western Sydney Wanderers at the end of the A-League season and has been linked with several European clubs since, is now believed to be close to ironing out several hitches. Confirmation of the deal is thought to be close.

Roda JC has a long tradition of signing Australians with Graham Arnold, Zeljko Kalac, and Gary van Egmond all once on its books.

It is back in the Eredivisie after being relegated two years ago and is looking to cement its place in the top division under coach Darije Kalezic, who has stepped up his hunt for a striker in recent weeks.

With the European seasons kicking off, Juric’s quest for a club has taken on some urgency after several false dawns.

He needs first team football in order for Ange Postecoglou to consider him for next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh and Tajikistan.
