It’s clear that Kewell has some work to do in what will be his first stint as a coach after he was appointed last week.
Watford youth-team coach David Horseman was quick to put a positive spin on the lost saying, “Some of them  haven’t played since March, and although it’s a disappointing result we’ve managed to get minutes under our belt.”

Horseman was full of praise for Kewell.

“Harry has come in full of enthusiasm and he has great knowledge. One of the biggest positives is that Harry has got to see the boys tonight, and now he can base his work from what he’s learnt.

“They’re a fantastic group to work with, there’s good talent and pace and they’re honest too. There are also some great players coming through, but our standards are high and the first-team standards are high too, so we’ll have to push them.

One of those players Kewell will be working with is striker Alex Jakubiak who also hailed Kewell’s initial impact.

“He has been great - he’s come in and spoken to all of us straight away as a group and individually. We had our first session this morning and we’ve still got time to work as a team.

“He’s here to help, and nothing is going to be forced upon us. He’s here to support our development and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
