The Sky Blues snapped up the striker from Turkish giant Besiktas where he spent eight years, scoring 42 goals in 144 games.
"Graham Arnold was very specific in type of attacking player he wanted to bring to Sydney FC, he has found that in Filip and we are delighted to have been able to secure him for the club," Sydney chairman Scott Barlow said.
"We look forward to welcoming Filip to Sydney in early August and to watching him play a major role in our bid to become Hyundai A-League Champions in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017."
Thirty-one year-old Holosko has played in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup for Besiktas and comes with a vast array of international experience after 65 caps for Slovakia.
Coach Graham Arnold is confident he will thrill supporters and provide added dynamism as Sydney bids for a first A-League title since 2010.
"Filip is a multi-functional player who can play anywhere across the front-line," Arnold said.
"After having to replace Bernie Ibini, he fitted the requirements of what I was looking for.
"He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad.
"He has the style of a strong and fast player who I am sure will excite the Sydney FC fans.
"He’s also at a great age and is hungry for success."
Holosko will join his new team mates at the start of August along with fellow new international Milos Ninkovic.
