Reports in the Spanish press of a recent meeting between Verratti's agent and Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa fuelled rumours of a possible move to the Nou Camp for the Italy international.

Barca - despite being unable to complete player registrations and field new signings until January due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban - is looking to strengthen its midfield after the departure of captain Xavi, and Verratti is among the reported candidates.

However, Verratti's agent Donati Di Campli insists the 22 year-old is unlikely to leave the Ligue 1 champion any time soon.

He said to Sky Italia: "I haven't seen Freixa, as was reported in the media, but I have spoken to him on the telephone.

"But I speak with a lot of people every day and it doesn't mean anything.

"Marco is absolutely calm, he is happy in Paris and has a long-term contract.

"Whoever wants him needs to get in contact directly with Paris St Germain and not with us.

"There's nothing else for us to add."

Verratti joined PSG from Pescara in 2012 and has made 88 appearances to help the French giant win three straight Ligue 1 crowns.

He is under contract with the Paris outfit for another four seasons.
