Ibini was part of Arnold's Central Coast side which lifted the trophy in 2013.
On the eve of taking on Adelaide at Allianz Stadium on Saturday for a spot in this season's grand final, Ibini says the mood among the players feels just like it did two years ago.
"Things definitely feel very similar. We have a very good squad here," Ibini said. "It's a big game on the weekend so hopefully we can play well and get the win.
"I don't want to put any extra pressure on us but I could see us doing it (winning the championship), why not?"
Ibini is among a host of players futures at the Sky Blues are up in the air: marquee striker Marc Janko, club player of the year Milos Dimitrijevic and Senegalese duo Mickael Tavares and Jaques Faty are all off contract.
Ibini, who is on loan from his Chinese club Shanghai Dongya, has Newcastle Jets in hot pursuit of his services after a standout campaign.
The attacker says all contract talks have been put on hold so they can focus on Saturday's crucial clash but admitted he would love to remain in his hometown of Sydney under long-time mentor Arnold.
"Of course I'd like to stay. Being in Sydney and playing for a Sydney club is very nice and I've enjoyed it this season," he said.
"Arnie's obviously a very good coach his record speaks for itself, so it would be good to be able to work with him again.
"We're in the semi-final and hopefully will be in the grand final so it's been a very good season."
