The Portuguese football star polarises fans, with his his sublime talent often offset by petulent displays of arrogance when things don't go his way on the pitch.
And by that we mean getting angry when team-mates score and he doesn't, like his reaction to this Gareth Bale goal against Levante:
Or this moment in April when Alvaro Arbeloa snuck in to grab the glory as an angry Ronaldo lashed out at the net in frustration.
For a man who has scored 219 of the things in 197 matches for Madrid, Ronaldo gets overly irritable when it comes to sharing the glory.
Now vision has emerged of the 30 year-old showing another, far more humble, side to his personality.
During a promotional appearance in Japan, Ronaldo is interviewed by a young boy who struggles to ask his questions in Portuguese.
Ronaldo does his best to assist the boy, as journalists and others present in the room become increasingly amused by the youngster's difficulty.
The Madrid star eventually turns to his translator and, gesturing to the crowd, says: "Why do they smile, why? He speaks good Portuguese, very good.
"They should be happy because he is trying very hard, he is good."
Chastened, the crowd sheepishly applauses as Ronaldo turns to get on with the interview.
Naturally, the world's best footballers have to be on their best behaviour when it comes to fulfilling promotional obligations, but still, Ronaldo appears to have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a clearly nervous young boy feel comfortable.
For that, the Portuguese deserves another round of applause.
