Djite missed the Reds' 2-1 elimination final triumph against Brisbane Roar with a groin strain but the powerful forward will return against the Sky Blues.
"Bruce will be right. As to how many minutes he's going to get, obviously that is up to the coaches and Bruce as to how much he thinks he can get though," Goodwin told reporters on Tuesday.
While some critics deem a return of a goal every four games this season is a bit light, Goodwin backed his team-mate and declared that Djite's value to the Reds goes far beyond just scoring.
"He is certainly that player who can hold the ball up and bring other players into the game," Goodwin told reporters on Tuesday.
"A lot of people are quite critical on the amount of goals that he scores or think that he should score more.
"But the amount of work he does off the ball, and bringing in other players into the game and allowing them to score, is amazing.
"If you look at it, we have quite a few players in different areas that have scored this year."
Spaniard Pablo Sanchez leads Adelaide's scoring with eight goals, with Marcelo Carrusca and Sergio Cirio netting seven times, Djite and winger Awer Mabil six and Goodwin five.
The Reds have recorded a home draw and two away wins against Sydney in the league this season, and an away victory over the Sky Blues en route to an FFA Cup title.
The most recent result - a 1-0 Adelaide win in Sydney last month, notable for a string of remarkable saves by goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic - was described as lucky by Sydney coach Graham Arnold, but Goodwin disagreed.
"People say you make your own luck and Sydney couldn't put the ball in the back of the net," he said.
"I would not say it's luck. Obviously Eugene had a fantastic game ... maybe we rode our luck but I don't think we were lucky."
