Team Wellington boasts a 2-1 win record against City this season - securing the ASB Charity Cup on penalties, before a win and a loss in the two ASB Premiership encounters.
"But come Sunday, it starts at zero-zero," Vicelich said. "There's a lot of desire within our team. We've seen that grow over the past week. Every game our team has been performing better and playing well."
Both clubs made it through their three group matches unbeaten.
Team Wellington went on to book its berth in the title decider for the first time courtesy of a 2-0 semi-final victory over Fijian club Ba.
The Aucklanders, chasing a fifth successive OFC title and a seventh overall, advanced thanks to a 1-0 win over New Caledonian opponents FC Gaitcha.
Vicelich said facing Team Wellington in Oceania rather than domestic competition brought different dynamics into play.
The 38-year-old former All Whites defender expressed pride in how his players had performed in the event so far, especially against Gaitcha.
"We've come through four tough games and in every game we've had to perform to a high level by giving 100 per cent of our capacity," he said.
"We've had to deal with injuries, suspensions, broken noses, broken teeth, so it's been very difficult."
The winners will qualify for the annual FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament in which Auckland City produced a major surprise last year by finishing third in Morocco.
