Glory coach Lowe backs his devastated players

Drained Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe vowed the team would stick strong through the tough times and said his main focus is the welfare of his shattered players.

Speaking at the end of what was described as , Lowe stressed the importance of playing with integrity.

Earlier on Friday Glory was . It then slumped to a 3-0 Round 25 loss to Sydney FC at nib Stadium, with fans venting their anger at the club's management.

"I'm proud and honoured to represent those guys in there, because they've been fantastic this year," Lowe said.

"The ultimate thing is we all hang in there and stick together, and finish off the season in a proud manner where you can have some integrity about yourself.

"It's down to us to make sure we look after each other, and we're together.

"This can actually be a defining moment for the club.

"When you are down and you are like that, that's how you judge people.

"You see true characters. I think in the next few days we'll see some true characters in our football club."

On the way into the ground, one of Glory's supporter groups chanted "We want Sagey out" in reference to owner Tony Sage.

Then during the game, a series of flares were set off within the club's active supporter group section amid .

Things escalated after Sydney went 3-0 up in the second half, with the supporter base venturing onto the concourse to set off more flares.

On points, Glory sits equal top of the table alongside Sydney and Melbourne Victory.

Lowe said his players would still aim to finish the competition with the most points, even if there would be no reward at the end of it.

Glory's next assignment is a home match against Melbourne City on Sunday week.

"It's not fair on others if we just roll over. We've got a moral obligation to the other teams in the league," Lowe said.

Meanwhile, the club's hopes of playing in the A-League finals rest with the courts after the club filed an injunction against FFA's decision to penalise them over salary cap breaches.

Perth is set to exhaust all of its avenues of appeal, with their first port of call the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

The club will find out on Monday whether its injunction bid is approved.

If it isn't, Perth will fight for its innocence through FFA's appeals process.
