It's understood a head collision during the all NSW Premier League affair resulted in Stavroulakis felling unwell and being taken from the field. While being treated Stavroulakis became unconscious and was taken to hospital.

He underwent surgery and was placed in an induced coma - with family and friends by his bedside.

On Thursday afternoon Sydney United confirmed that Stavroulakis had recovered from the surgery and was already looking forward to the club's next game.
One of the NSW Premier League’s most highly regarded players, the midfielder spent many years with Sutherland Sharks before making the switch this season to Edensor Park after stints with both Empoli and Peterborough during the early part of his career.
