As The World Game revealed last week, to have a medical with the Chinese team.

The 29 year-old defender had played 176 A-League games for the Victory since 2005 and was a member of the 2006-2007 championship team.

"The decision to move to China to play football was one made with a heavy heart knowing that I'd be leaving a club that has provided me with the greatest moments of my career," Leijer said in a club statement.

"I am disappointed that I had to leave during the A League season to join Chongqing Lifan, but unfortunately the start of the Chinese season is imminent."

Victory coach Kevin Muscat said Leijer had contributed plenty to the club on and off the field.

"Quality people like Adrian Leijer are hard to replace," Muscat said.
