The 34 year-old made his first start of the tournament on Thursday night in Brisbane as the Socceroos, powered by Tim Cahill's two stunning goals, qualified for the Asian Cup's final four.
Bresciano only played the first hour and looked rusty at times - perhaps understandable, given he had only made two appearances off the bench prior to the match.
"It is a relief for me (to start)," he said.
"I felt alright.
"I didn't get much game time in last three games but I am happy to get on the pitch, even though only for 60 minutes.
"I've just got to get myself ready for the semi and see what the coach decides."
The rise of Massimo Luongo appeared to have been the reason for Bresciano's absence from the team, but coach Ange Postecoglou made one of his most daring Asian Cup selection choices by playing the two creative midfielders side by side.
Bresciano said he was ready for more game time but admitted he was completely in the dark over how Postecoglou intended to use him for Tuesday's semi-final in Newcastle, which will be against either Japan or the United Arab Emirates.
"I don't know what his plan was," he said.
"Maybe I am hoping he is saving me for the more important games.
"Apart from the uncertainty, it's hard because if you don't play regularly and get that game time under your belt ... my last full game for club (Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa) was December 21.
"It is hard for a player to come in when he is not playing as much."
Bresciano said he felt for Tommy Oar, who - aside from reserve goalkeepers Mitch Langerak and Eugene Galekovic, and young midfielder Terry Antonis - has seen the fewest minutes of any player at the tournament.
Oar, who is in close to career-best form with FC Utrecht and has been linked with a move to Dutch giant Ajax, has had to be content with just a 13-minute spell off the bench against Oman.
Postecoglou said the fleet-footed 23 year-old was in the selection mix for the quarter-final but was again left unused.
"I could probably know how he is feeling because it can be very frustrating," Bresciano said.
"As a player you want to play.
"In saying that, we have got a good chance to win this tournament because we can rely on all 22 players.
"Regardless of who is playing we've demonstrated in these last few games the players who do come on have made a good impact and that is a very important thing to do well."
