Is this the worst dive in the history of football?

Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Akeem Humphrey pulled off one of the most outrageous simulations ever seen this week, seemingly unaware that the Oscar nominations had already been announced.

Playing in the CONCACAF Under-20 championships in Jamaica, Humphrey's effort was something else, and can be see here .
He can be seen clearly elbowing his Panama opponent in the face, an act so ordinary the ghost of American Sniper subject Chris Kyle appears to have risen to take him out with a clean shot to the face.

Diving, simulation, cheating - whatever you want to call it - is perhaps the one thing that prevents non-football believers from joining the estimated 4 billion of us that love the game, and Humphrey did nothing to dispel that myth with this piece of tomfoolery.

Thankfully, referee Castro, who is clearly not one for Oscar-winning performances, saw straight through the 70th-minute hilarity and promptly produced not a gold statue, but a straight red card for Humphrey.

That left Trinidad and Tobago with just nine men to see out a 1-0 defeat, which continued Panama's perfect record of four wins from four matches in the championship, including a 1-0 defeat of United States.

Kadeem Corbin had earlier been sent off for two bookable offences.

Just for laughs, and cringes, here’s a little compilation of some of the best/worst simulations in modern football.
