Fans and families crowded the Hotel Realm on Tuesday as the players stepped off the tour bus to cheers, squeals and applause then signed autographs and posed for pictures with supporters.

Drawn in the same group as hosts Australia, the Taeguk Warriors kick off their Asian Cup campaign against Oman at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.

Kate Sohn, 16, claimed a quick snap with her favourite player, midfielder and Bolton Wanderers Lee Chung-yong.

She said she was looking forward to watching the Reds play live.

"I always watch them online because you can't watch them on Australian TV," the teenager said.

The Koreans last won the region's major tournament four decades ago and are keen to reclaim some glory after a poor performance at last year's FIFA World Cup.

"It's their time," Sohn said.
