Lowe pushing for Perth to get better

From also-rans to A-League favourite, coach Kenny Lowe says Perth Glory is determined to get even better as it marches towards the Premiers' Plate and A-League finals.

A 2-1 away victory over Melbourne Victory confirmed as such, pushing it seven points clear of the chasing pack.

Perth's season in numbers tells the story.

After 13 games, Glory already has more points (32) than all of its last season (28).

Striker Andy Keogh cannot be stopped; he has double the goals (8) than last year's top scorer Shane Smeltz.

With 10 wins, they already have enough victories to have ensured a finals place in the past three seasons.

And Lowe is set to add to his squad, adding a winger in the January transfer window.

It's a beautiful set of numbers but Lowe isn't getting carried away.

"We ain't Brazil, we ain't Barcelona, but we're quite efficient at what we do," Lowe said.

"But we need to get better. I want to get better, it's not just the players. I want to be better, I want to learn."

Lowe has now thrown away the underdogs tag, embracing his position as the team to beat.

His enthusiasm has clearly rubbed off on midfielder Rostyn Griffiths, who said the team's improved form came down to an improved mindset.

"At the beginning of the season we sat down and said 'you know what, with the squad we've got if we don't achieve things this year we'll be kicking ourselves'," he told Fox Sports.

"We set high standards, we said there's no excuses away from home."

"We're a tight unit."

With such success, surely the risk is the impending Asian Cup break will stall Glory's momentum.

However Lowe said the break will give players a well-needed rest.

"It's great for us, we've got a lot of sore bodies," Lowe said.

"It'll be good for us to regroup, refresh and maybe re-evaluate what we've done."

Griffiths tallied up the bodies.

"Ruben (Zadkovich)'s pretty much playing with half a back, I've been playing with a sore knee, Richie Garcia is struggling.

"We're all just grinding through to the break.

"It's a no excuses environment for us to get results."

A final opportunity for a result comes on Monday when Glory welcomes Adelaide United - the only team to have beaten it this season.
