The 33-year-old midfielder, who was an unused substitute in last weekend's 6-2 victory over Hamburg, suffered a ligament tear in his foot during a training-ground collision and will miss Dortmund's UEFA Champions League group game against Napoli on Wednesday evening (Thursday morning AEST).

A statement published on BVB's official website read: "A scan performed by team doctor
Markus Braun at Dortmund's Knappschaft hospital on Monday revealed an osseous avulsion injury.

"Kehl is expected to be out of action for about six weeks."

The 2012 Champions League finalist will also run the rule over defender Neven Subotic and forward
Henrikh Mkhitaryan before travelling to Naples.
