The World Game's highly successful iPhone app has been upgraded, adding video highlights, the latest news and exclusive opinion to a platform that already keeps fans up to date with scores from more than 40 football leagues worldwide.

The World Game app, available free from the Apple iTunes store and compatible with both iPhone and iPad,was SBS’s first mobile app and has more than 25,000 downloads.

An Android version is already in development and will be released soon

Toby Forage, Executive Producer for SBS Sport Online, said: "SBS has been committed for many years now to giving football fans in Australia the best access to everything they want to know about the game.

"We have expanded on what was already a comprehensive live scores and results service with the addition of video highlights, news and exclusive content from The World Game team. The updated app now provides what we believe is the best mobile football experience available."

The World Game iPhone app, rated four stars out of five on iTunes, will continue to provide football fans with live scores, results, fixtures and tables.

"'We hope that now, through SBS and The World Game app, our audience never feels out of touch with what’s happening in the game, and can get up to date regardless of whether they’re commuting to work, at home online or watching on SBS," Forage added.

SBS's range of apps includes SBS World News Australia, SBS Tour de France Tracker 2011, SBS PopAsia and SBS Chill.
