Speaking on SBS's Santo, Sam and Ed's Cup Fever from Venice, where he is on route to a holiday in Croatia, the 30-year-old said he'd been in Rome finalising details over the past few days since returning from the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Bresciano was released by Palermo at the end of the 2009-2010 season. He was linked to a number of clubs, most recently Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr, and there were rumours he might even return to Australia to play in the A-League.
But the Australian said he was always holding out for a deal in Europe, and tonight confirmed that deal had been done.
News agency Ansa reported recently Bresciano was in talks with Lazio, and the deal is believed to be worth around $1.5 million to the veteran Socceroos star.
