Arsenal wins in Argentina

2 September 2012-PA Sport

Arsenal Sarandi moved top of the Argentinian Apertura with a 1-0 win over 10-man Lanus.

Juan Pablo Caffa scored the only goal of the game after 48 minutes, while Lanus had Matias Fritzler sent off 14 minutes from time.

There was also a 1-0 win and two more dismissals in the game between Newell's Old Boys and Estudiantes.

Rodrigo Brana was sent off for Estudiantes on 81 minutes and Nacho Scocco scored the winner for Newell's in the 90th minute before team-mate Victor Lopez also received his marching orders.

Not to be outdone, Velez Sarsfield beat Belgrano Cordoba 2-1 in a game which saw both teams finish with 10 men.

Fabian Cubero's 32nd-minute opener for Velez was cancelled out within seconds by Martin Zapata, but an own goal from Sergio Rodriguez (71) gave Velez the points.

Substitute Facundo Ferreyra (83) was sent off for the home side, with Cordoba's Gaston Turus following suit five minutes later.
