Velez too good for Tigre

9 December 2011-PA Sport

Velez Sarsfield recorded a 3-1 win away to Tigre to move level with third-placed Lanus in the Apertura and leapfrog its opponent.

David Ramirez opened the scoring on the half-hour mark and Augusto Fernandez doubled the advantage four minutes later to put the visitor in control.

Diego Morales got Tigre back in it two minutes before half-time, but Guillermo Franco's 61st-minute goal made sure of the win for Velez.

Lanus now leads a four-way tie on 28 points, with Belgrano Cordoba joining the battle with a 2-0 win away to Banfield.

Cesar Pereyra got both goals inside the opening 25 minutes and Banfield's misery was completed by a 71st-minute red card for Jonathan Gomez.

Colon Santa Fe is the fourth team on 28 points, one above Tigre.

Substitute Martin Benitez struck in the 57th minute to give Independiente a 1-0 away win over San Lorenzo, while Newell's Old Boys and San Martin San Juan played out a 0-0 draw.
