Guerron focused on Copa semi
2 June 2008 | 21:51 - PA Sport
Liga Deportiva Universitaria winger Joffre Guerron has vowed to put transfer talk to the back of his mind when his side take on Mexican giants America in Wednesday's (AEST) Copa Libertadores second leg.
LDU will be aiming for their first Libertadores final after a 1-1 draw in the away leg at the Estadio Azteca.
But their preparation has been hampered by speculation linking Guerron with a move to Boca Juniors, whom LDU could face in the final.
The 23-year-old said: "Nothing of what the press is talking about will make me lose the focus on beating America and making it into the Copa Libertadores final. This is a dream I want to realise."
America captain German Villa expects to be faced with "a hostile environment" and some negative tactics at Estadio Casablanca.
He said: "Ecuadorian teams try to make things difficult in any way. We have already seen how they foul to break up the rhythm."
"Their crowd will try to find a way to create a hostile environment, but we are focused on clinching the result we need."
Midfielder Juan Carlos Silva remained cautious, saying: "I truly didn't know Liga (before the first leg) but they are a great team with very good, strong players. We shouldn't get too confident."
At the Maracana, Fluminense take on holders Boca on Thursday (AEST) after the 2-2 draw in the first leg in Buenos Aires.
Fluminense boss Renato Gaucho said: "We clinched a very good result in Argentina."
"However, we don't think we are favourites. We respect Boca, but they haven't played Fluminense yet. I hope we can celebrate qualification with our fans."
"We'll have 80,000 people supporting us and we shouldn't waste that."
Boca coach Carlos Ischia is sure that his side will advance to their sixth final in nine years.
He said: "Boca will go into the final. I want Boca fans to be calm because the team will do their best on the field."
Boca have already claimed a win in Brazil in the current tournament, having beaten Cruzeiro 2-1 to claim a 4-2 aggregate win in the last 16.
Ischia added: "Even though every match is different, I'm calm again. We'll see how Fluminense prepare for the game. We know how we're going to play in Brazil."
