All over ... John Aloisi lies on the ground after suffering the hamstring injury at the weekend (Getty)
Sydney FC has been dealt a massive blow just five days out from the 2009/2010 A-League grand final with striker John Aloisi being ruled out of the championship decider with injury, the club said.
Results from MRI scans taken on Sunday night confirmed a torn left hamstring would keep him out for between 6-8 weeks.
Aloisi was in peak form for the Sky Blues this season, netting a club record 10 goals.
“I‘m shattered,” Aloisi said. “We have worked so hard to get here and to have it taken from you is really devastating.”
“When it happened I knew something wasn’t right but you always have hope. When I got the news from the doctor it was pretty upsetting.”
Sydney faces Melbourne Victory in the grand final at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
