Perth Glory has been dealt a huge blow with influential midfielder and captain Jacob Burns ruled out for at least three A-League matches with a quad injury.
Burns suffered the injury at training on Wednesday, with scans revealing a tear in his left quad.
Nick Ward is the frontrunner to replace Burns as Glory attempts to bounce back from its 2-1 loss to Sydney FC in Week 4, starting with the match against in-form Newcastle Jets at nib Stadium on Saturday.
Glory defender Bas van den Brink will return to the centre of defence in place of Steve Pantelidis, who is serving a one-match ban for his red card last week.
The Jets enter the game in hot form after three consecutive wins, with Emile Heskey scoring a brace in the 2-1 Week 3 win over Melbourne Victory.
Former Glory defender Scott Neville, who switched to the Jets during the off-season, will be pushing for some game time after missing the past two matches with a groin injury.
