Opener ... Thomas Broich garbbed Roar's first (Getty Images)
A-League champion Brisbane Roar bounced back to form to hand an understrength Sydney FC a 5-1 thrashing in a friendly in Mackay, Queensland.
Roar, who lost 6-2 to Adelaide United last week, capitalised on a weakened Sydney outfit, who was without Pascal Bosschaart, Adam Griffiths, Joel Chianese and Yairo Yau.
Brett Emerton, recuperating from off-season ankle surgery played the first-half and goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic made his first start for Sydney FC.
Thomas Broich opened the scoring for Brisbane in the 25th minute with a left-footed strike but the Sky Blues drew level by half-time with Mitchell Mallia heading home.
Roar overpowered the visitor in the second-half with an own goal from Sydney defender Rhyan Grant (55') and goals from Erik Partaalu (74'), Ben O’Halloran (79') and Matt Jurman (82').
