Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has extended his contract with the club for another year.
The 2007/2008 Championship-winning coach, who is in his second year of a two-year contract, will be at the helm until at least the end of the 2013/14 season.
“It is exciting news for the Club and for the playing group to have Gary extend his contract at the Jets,” Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said.
“Gary fits the mould of what we are doing at the Jets and we have faith that he is continuing to build a team in which Newcastle can be proud.
“It is encouraging for our young playing group to have an outstanding coach that is committed to the Jets for another season.”
Van Egmond expressed his relief, having signed off on the deal.
“I feel very privileged to be the coach of the Newcastle Jets and it is wonderful to be extending my time here for at least another year,” he said.
“I see a bright future, for this season and for many years to come, in both the development of the players and in the total culture of the Club.
“It is exciting times for the Newcastle Jets Football Club; we have a great representation of local talent in our senior group and near 100 per cent in our youth team.
“We have a great Membership base, the second largest in the A-League, which shows how passionate our supporters are and I hope to be able to equal their passion.”
