Western Sydney Wanderers announced the signing of Australia U-20 defender Reece Caira, who has spent the past two seasons at English Premier League club Aston Villa.
Caira, who linked up with Blacktown City after his release from the Villa academy in May, is set to be used in a versatile role across the Wanderers defence and midfield.
Caira is joined at Wanderers by reigning Victorian Premier League (VPL) Player of the Year Jason Trifiro, whose impressive form for Northcote City and South Melbourne sparked speculation of a move to the new A-league club.
The third signing revealed by Wanderers is ex-Gold Coast United goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson, who will serve as an understudy to Ante Covic.
“These boys have all earned the right to be part of the squad and it’s great to have them officially on board,” Wanderers coach Tony Popovic said.
“They all have a different past and worked hard to get here but it’s great to have them officially part of the squad.
“All three have been trialling for a number of weeks and will play a key role for us in our first season."
