Vidosic plots Brisbane dynasty

New Roar coach Rado Vidosic has wasted no time after taking over the reins from Ange Postecoglou, tweaking the championship-winning style with a more direct, attacking twist for 2012-2013.

But the Brisbane mentor hopes to make the biggest difference off the field as he bids to lock in as many players as he can to build on their remarkable success.

"We want to keep as many as possible so we have decided to negotiate with them right away, even though it is just a couple of weeks into the pre-season," he said.

"These players have been part of our culture for the last couple of years and we don't want to change that.

"We want to keep the core group - not for just one more year but two or three.

"We want to reward players for their achievements and loyalty.

"If we do that, we can develop a very good culture at the club. We want to build toward a dynasty."

Vidosic said he would start by locking in long-term deals for the club's leadership group of captain Matt Smith, Shane Stefanutto, Michael Theoklitos and Erik Paartalu.

"They dictate everything. You can train all you want but, if you don't have a good leadership group to show the way, you may not be successful," Vidosic said.

"We need those players. Hopefully, we can get all of them."

Finally handed the reins after assisting previous head coaches Miron Bleiberg, Frank Farina and championship-winning Postecoglou, Vidosic is not afraid to fine tune the Roar style.

The arrival of Korea Republic under-20 international Do Dong-Hyun alongside the likes of Ben Halloran and Henrique has Vidosic confident that fans can see a more aggressive Brisbane on show in 2012-2013.

"We have a lot of speed down the flanks so we can use that," he said.

"We want to be as dominant as ever but we will try and play a smarter game.

"We want to be as patient as we have been in the past two seasons but, sometimes, we will want to get the ball down as fast and as hard as we can - it will be exciting to watch."

Asked if he felt pressure stepping into Postecoglou's big shoes, Vidosic said: "There is always pressure but, at the moment, I don't feel any.

"We are taking steps toward how we want to play (but) it will be up to the players.

"If our preparation is right, I am sure we will be one of the contenders for the championship."
