Back in training ... Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson (Getty Images)
Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson will be given time to prove his fitness for Saturday night's A-League clash with Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.
Thompson limped out of training on Tuesday with hamstring tightness.
But he returned to train lightly on Thursday, with coach Jim Magilton set to give the A-League's all-time leading goalscorer as much time as needs before making a decision on whether he will play against Roar.
"We're going to wait and see. He'll be out today and have a jog and we'll assess him - there's still 48 hours to go," Magilton said before training on Thursday.
"He's desperate to play ... I'll hand it over to the (medical) experts and then, if they feel he's okay to play, then it will be up to me to decide whether he plays."
Brisbane has returned to its swashbuckling best in recent weeks - beating competition leader Central Coast Mariners and third-placed Wellington Phoenix in successive matches.
Eighth-placed Victory upset the Mariners last weekend, and needs to keep winning to have any hope of making the top six.
