Injured Perth star Travis Dodd spoke of his disappointment at missing a chance to take on his former team, Adelaide, on Sunday.
Dodd, a former Reds captain, will miss his second game in a row due to a small abdominal tear.
“I was a little upset I guess, but we get to play them again in March so I’m making sure I’m ready for that one,“ Dodd said.
Dodd hopes to be fit for Perth Glory’s next home game against Gold Coast United on 6 February.
“It’s coming along really well. I had a week pretty much of rest doing bike rehab, but this week I’ve started running and it’s responding really well," he said.
“So on track at this stage for the Gold Coast game.
“I’ll hopefully start training with the squad again after the Adelaide game, and looking at being available then.”
Dodd rued a rotten run of injuries this season, having previously been sidelined for four matches with a hamstring injury.“You look at the Melbourne Victory game sitting in the stands; it’s those types of games that you really want to be part of," he said.
Meanwhile, the A-League veteran paid tribute to his former coach, John Kosmina, for reviving Adelaide’s fortunes.
“They’re off to a great start under Kossie, only losing one game since he’s been back, so they’ve certainly turned their form around," Dodd said.
“Our style of play and the way we’ve been going the last six or seven weeks has been great especially after last weekend’s result the confidence is high among the group. “I’m sure we can go over there expecting to do well and pick up a result.”
Resurgent Glory is fifth in the A-League and hopeful of a top fourth berth with five of its last eight games of the season at nib Stadium.
