Happy with his squad ... Brisbane Roar coach Ange Postecoglou (Getty)
Brisbane Roar coach Ange Postecoglou still hopes to feature prized recruit Jean Carlo Solorzano in its A-League season opener despite a delayed arrival.
The Costa Rican striker was due to finally touch down in Brisbane on Thursday night - barely a week before the season kick-off and four days after he was initially scheduled to arrive.
However, Postecoglou was still expecting Solorzano to feature in the derby clash against Gold Coast United at Skilled Park next Sunday.
With an injury cloud over striker Reinaldo (hamstring), the Roar had been hoping to slot Solorzano straight in against United next weekend.
But the 20-year-old looks set to chime in off the bench against the Roar's arch-rival after visa problems stalled his arrival.
Expected to arrive in Brisbane last Sunday, Solorzano - on a season-long loan deal from LD Alajuelense - was stranded in his native Costa Rica for days by red tape.
However, the Roar was upbeat following confirmation that Solorzano would attend his first Roar training in Brisbane on Friday.
"We're pretty keen to get him out here and start training," Postecoglou said.
"He has been looking after himself ... and we hope we can integrate him into the squad as quickly as possible and get him up to speed.
"Obviously he will be a little jet-lagged, but I know he is keen to get started straight away."
Postecoglou confirmed Reinaldo was 'doubtful' for the derby showdown on the tourist strip.
"With Reinaldo maybe not ready for the game we may use Solorzano as an option off the bench," Postecoglou said.
"Obviously it will be too much to throw him in straight away but certainly he could be involved with the squad.
"But we will wait and see before we make that decision."
Solorzano is the final piece in the puzzle for Postecoglou's bold off-season recruitment drive.
The Costa Rican is the club's 12th off-season signing as Postecoglou well and truly stamps his mark on the team.
Taking over the reins mid-season following Frank Farina's sacking, Postecoglou has finally assembled the line-up he wants heading into a new campaign.
Postecoglou's arrival sparked a chain of events that led to the departure of the likes of Craig Moore, Danny Tiatto, Charlie Miller, Liam Reddy, Josh McCloughan, Tommy Oar and Michael Zullo.
But Postecoglou is more than happy with a recruitment drive that has landed the likes of Shane Stefanutto, Thomas Broich, Erik Paartalu, Michael Theoklitos and Matt Smith.
"We're very happy with the squad ... and I think it's a strong squad," he said.
"Everyone who has done pre-season has done well and we've only got a couple of injuries at the moment.
"Hopefully we can manage that throughout the year and the medical department will be working hard at keeping the boys fresh and in good condition."
