Reigning A-League champion Sydney FC and NSW rival Central Coast played out a 2-2 draw in their trial match at the Sydney Showground on Saturday night.
Sydney took the lead in just the first minute of the match when striker Alex Brosque pounced on a poor defensive pass from Mariners keeper Mathew Ryan but the game exploded to life in the second half with three goals in eight minutes.
Adam Kwasnik got the Mariners level in the 60th minute but their joy was short-lived when half-time substitute Mark Bridge netted a minute later from a pin-point cross from new recruit Scott Jamieson.
Mariners frontman Matt Simon completed a frenetic period of play when he volleyed home in the 66th minute to again level the scores.
In a boost for Sydney, the match marked a return from injury for young stars Kofi Danning (knee) and Rhyan Grant (ankle).
