Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has indicated he plans to continue playing through the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will likely make him the Azzurri's most-capped player.
Speaking at Italy's training camp ahead of qualifiers against Bulgaria and Malta, Buffon said he was 'not thinking about the end of my career. ... I'm in great physical condition and I'm full of enthusiasm'.
Fabio Cannavaro holds the record for Italy appearances with 136, followed by Paolo Maldini (126), then Buffon (120).
Buffon faced controversy when it was revealed in May that he had his banking records examined on suspicion he made large bets but he bounced back to help Italy to the final of EURO 2012, saving a penalty from Ashley Cole in the shootout win over England.
